After reports of light-attendance, Disney is offering a new deal for its Disney After Hours event at Magic Kingdom. First of all, what is Disney After Hours? For $149 per person on select nights, a very limited number of guests can visit the park for 3 hours after it closes. This includes access to over 25 attractions and complimentary ice cream. This effectively gives guests access to Disney World’s most popular park without any wait times. However, Disney seems to be reacting to the weak attendance of the first couple of Disney After Hours events by offering Annual Passholders and DVC members a 50% discount on tickets.

From Disney’s press release:

“On the nights of April 28, May 5, May 8, May 12 and May 19, 2016, the theme park will close to all but a limited number of ticketed Guests. That means 3 hours of nonstop fun enjoying popular attractions, Character experiences and more, with complimentary refreshments included. Regularly $149, Passholder can purchase Disney After Hours tickets for just $75 by calling (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277 or by visiting any Walt Disney World ticket window. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.”

So, is the event worth it? That really depends on how much you visit Disney World and value riding on all of the most popular rides. For someone who is visiting Disney World for a once-in-a-lifetime or even once-in-a-decade trip, then this event makes sense. Since there are no wait times, it’s feasible to do 15-20 rides in this 3 hour window, which is more than most guests will do in a 12 hour day. For repeat Disney World guests like Annual Passholders and DVC members, this new price might be more enticing as a replacement for something like the Halloween or Christmas Party, which are much more crowded. Personally, I would get a kick out of going to a mostly-empty Magic Kingdom and seeing how many rides I can do.
