So, about those awesome Disney Parks and Starbucks “You Are Here” mugs that went on sale last week… Unless you were able to buy it last week, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get your hands on one of them.

Disney confirmed yesterday that they have pulled the Epcot “You Are Here” mug after it was on sale for about a week. The problem with the mug is the color scheme: The mug depicts a purple monorail. Monorail Pink and Monorail Purple were involved in a fatal crash in 2009 that killed Austin Wuennenberg, the 21-year-old pilot of Monorail Purple. Both colors were retired from the monorail fleet after the accident.

The Epcot Starbucks mug features a purple and blue color scheme, and the monorail featured on the mug has a purple stripe. It’s due to this that Disney has stopped selling the mug. It seems that Disney is trying to nip any sort of controversy in the bud by stopping the sale of the mug.

Disney Food Blog reports that a new version of the mug will be available in March, which will change the color of the stripe on the monorail. The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and DCA mugs are all still on sale, with the Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom mugs set to debut later this year.
