The spread of the coronavirus worldwide has forced many people to change or cancel their travel plans. Reported by Gabrielle Russon in the Orlando Sentinel, Disney has temporarily waived their $50 fee to “allow visitors to postpone their trips to Disney World and Disneyland until later this year.” This move comes as the travel industry at large has begun waiving change fees and cancellations for travel both domestic and abroad. This new rescheduling policy applies to guests who have booked their vacation packages directly through Disney and does not cover cancellations.
As a reminder, Disney World and Disneyland’s normal vacation package cancellation policy gives full refunds for cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the first day of the trip. Cancellations made 2-29 days prior to the first day incur a $200 penalty. Cancellations 1 day prior get no refund.

Disney World and Disneyland have continued operations, and Disney has not announced plans to close the parks. Disney has increased the presence of hand washing stations throughout the parks, and they now list hand sanitizer locations within the Disney World app. Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland continue to be closed due to coronavirus.
If you need to change your travel plans, contact Disney directly, or discuss your options with your travel agent.
