Tiger - Maharajah Jungle Trek - Animal Kingdom Attraction

Try to get to Animal Kingdom as early as possible. Many of the animals are active in the earlier parts of the day, and the wait times for Avatar: Flight of Passage will be the best if you get to the park before opening. Head straight to Pandora to do those rides in the first hour or two of park opening, and then enjoy wandering around the park and looking at the animals.

A very nice place to sit is behind Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom. Just follow the path to the left of the counter. There is a lot of covered seating with ceiling fans. It was 90 degrees, and we stayed very cool. This spot is great if you're dining or if you just want to take a break from all the walking.

Expedition Everest - Animal Kingdom Attraction

Expedition Everest is a very popular attraction at the Animal Kingdom, so lines are often very long. Look for the single rider line. It's located to the right of the Fastpass return - ask a cast member if you can't find it. Your wait will be substantially reduced!

As you are on your way to Harambe Village at Animal Kingdom, keep your eye out for the last path to the right after the Tree of Life and before the bridge to Africa. This is the “secret path.” The front of path is filled with a lot of vegetation so you might have to look hard. Yes, it is open to the public. Elephants - Kilimanjaro Safaris - Animal Kingdom Attraction

Here are some tips if you want to go on Kilimanjaro Safaris. While the prevalent tip out there is that the best safaris happen earlier in the day, Disney has said that almost every time of day has an equal chance of seeing many animals out on the safari. If you have a camera, try to get a spot on the end of your row. A zoom lens and image stabilization is key on this ride! Also, during warmer months, the animals come out more on the safari when it rains, so riding the safari in the rain can be fun. We found this out the hard way.

Russell - Up - Animal Kingdom

Did you know you can meet your favorite Disney characters at Animal Kingdom? While most people associate meet and greets with Magic Kingdom, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we found the most Disney character meet and greets at the Animal Kingdom. With this park not being as packed as the other parks, the lines were shorter and made it more enjoyable to get those autographs and pictures.

Dinosaur - Animal Kingdom Ride

Guide2WDW reader M recounts a story about what happened when he lost his backpack on a ride: "On Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom, be sure to use the net bags for any loose articles you bring into the car including backpacks. Although we weren't even aware of it until the ride ended, our fully loaded backpack flew out. This happened on our first ride of the day and could not be retrieved until 5:30 after the ride closed. Even heavy articles on the floor will not stay in the car. This ride has cameras throughout and the staff was able to pinpoint the location of the backpack and put our minds at rest that it was out of harm's way. All lost items found are brought to the Guest Relations building in the front of the park at the end of the day."

When riding Kali River Rapids, you can stash cameras or phones in a plastic bag or in the bins.

On Kali River Rapids, one person always gets wetter than everybody else, but there is no way to tell who it will be. Bring a pair of clothes - including underwear - to change into if you plan on riding Kali River Rapids at the Animal Kingdom.

Kali River Rapids - Animal Kingdom Ride

On Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom, make sure your feet are above the silver ring near the bottom of the raft, otherwise water will go over your feet past your ankles. For those who want a drier trip, wear a rain poncho to minimize how wet you get.

Avatar Flight of Passage on Pandora Ð The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Early bird gets the worm at Disney World. If you want to get the most out of your day at the parks, get there about 30-40 minutes before the park opens because you'll be able to ride all of your favorite rides before the crowds come. You'll have very short waits for popular rides like Toy Story Midway Mania, Space Mountain, Soarin, Frozen Ever After, or Expedition Everest. Avatar: Flight of Passage will still have a relatively substantial wait if you get there before park opening because of the demand (sometimes as much as 45 minutes to an hour as soon as the park opens), but this will still be significantly shorter than the standby wait later in the day (which can stretch over 2 hours easily).

Other long, air conditioned attractions: The American Adventure at Epcot, the Frozen Sing Along at Hollywood Studios, and Finding Nemo: The Musical at Animal Kingdom.
