The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Walt Disney World’s newest ride, is debuting soon. How soon? Disney hasn’t given out an official date just yet, but speculation seems to indicate that it could be as soon as the beginning of May, which is next week. However, if you’re like me and just can’t wait that long, here are three videos showing a sneak peek of the new New Fantasyland ride.
The first is a CG rendering of the ride that gives you a good indication of the swinging mine cars and the beautiful landscape that the track goes through. Of course, the cars will be filled with guests, not huge shining gems.
The next video is my favorite. It shows off some of the animatronics from the dark ride portion of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If this video is any indication, then these are some of the most impressive animatronics that Walt Disney Imagineering have come up with yet. The way the faces animate is both technologically stunning and true to the source material.
Personally, I can’t wait for this ride. It promises to have boththrill and Disney dark ride storytelling, which has proven to be a winning combination in rides like Splash Mountain, Radiator Spring Racers, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course, we’ll see if the ride lives up to this lofty legacy (and high expectations) when it opens soon.
