Captain EO closed in December 2015. It is replaced by the Disney Pixar Short Film Festival. The original description of the ride ran as follows:

Featuring a dream creative team of Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and the late Michael Jackson, Captain EO is a 3D sci-fi adventure movie featuring action sequences, special effects, and, of course, a big dance number at the end. Jackson plays Captain EO, who leads a ragtag group on a mission to deliver a gift to the supreme leader of a desolate world that is reminiscent of the Borg from Star Trek. The movie includes “4D” effects, such as the whole theatre shaking during an action sequence or bouncing to the beat during the musical number. Both effects are mild in nature, but add to the immersion of the movie.

Captain EO originally ran from 1986 to 1997, when it was replaced by “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience.” After the passing of Michael Jackson in 2009, the show reopened at Disney World in July 2010. Captain EO holds up surprisingly well for being over 25 years old, and it rarely ever has a line. If you’re looking to escape the crowds for 20 minutes, Captain EO will provide a solidly entertaining time, despite its age.
