Are you ready to stay up way past your bedtime? For the third year in a row, the Magic Kingdom will keep its gates open for 24 hours straight. From 6 a.m. May 23 to 6 a.m. May 24, 2014, Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure will invite guests to “rock their Disney side” at the parks. So, what makes this year’s parkathon different than the last two all-nighters?

This year, Disney is encouraging guests to show up in a costume that expresses their Disney side. Outside of the ticketed Halloween parties, adult guests are not allowed to dress up in costume at the parks. This fun addition might make it well worth visiting the park beyond the novelty of walking down Main Street at 4 a.m. The one thing that really made Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party worth it for me was seeing everyone in costume. Some people really got in-touch with their inner cos-player and wore some stunning and creative costumes.

It should be noted that this event falls on Memorial Day. While Magic Kingdom hasn’t gotten quite as crowded as Disneyland has due to its larger capacity, this is sure to be a very crowded day at the park. Also of note: Magic Kingdom is the only park participating, yet again. I’m hoping one day they’ll add Epcot to the all-nighter roster. Wouldn’t it be great to party all night in the World Showcase or to see the sun rise over Spaceship Earth?

I’m just thankful Starbucks is now on Main Street!

Will you be at the Magic Kingdom for 24 hours on May 23? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
