After Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opened with a standby-only line and Rise of the Resistance opened with its infamous boarding group virtual queue, it was reasonable to wonder if the next big attraction at Hollywood Studios would open with FastPass+ as an option. With just under a month to go until the debut of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Disney has answered that question with a resounding “You betcha, pal!” FastPass+ reservations are now available for the new ride starring Mickey Mouse and friends, which opens March 4, 2020.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a trackless dark ride that promises eye-popping “2.5-D” visuals, without the need for 3D glasses. This attraction is located in the Chinese Theatre at the center of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. MMRR replaces The Great Movie Ride, which was a headlining attraction for the park when it opened in 1989.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is available as a Tier 1 FastPass+ option, joining Millennium Falcon and Slinky Dog Dash. This brings yet another change to the FastPass+ tiers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which just added Millennium Falcon as an option starting on February 19, 2020. Tier 1 attractions tend to be the more popular rides, so guests can only choose one of them for their advanced FastPass+ reservations.
