Pandora - The World of Avatar Preview - Disney's Animal Kingdom

Pandora – The World of Avatar – Picture Report and Impressions!

We are just one week away from the official opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and I was lucky enough to attend an Annual Passholder preview yesterday. While I am working on a full review, I wanted to share my pictures and quick initial impressions of Disney World’s newest land. Well, about 6 years after the Avatar land was first announced, was Pandora worth the wait?

In a word, yes. Pandora – The World of Avatar is AMAZING.

The Land

Pandora - Exterior Plant Life - The World of Avatar Preview - Disney's Animal Kingdom

While Pandora – The World of Avatar features two attractions, shopping, and dining, the land itself is as much of a draw, if not moreso. The scenery is absolutely stunning, and unlike any other theme park land. Walt Disney Imagineering deftly mixed the natural plant life with Na’vi plants, so it really feels like you are in Pandora.

I could go on and on about the unique plant life or the amazing floating mountains, but I’ll just let these pictures speak for themselves.

Flight of Passage Attraction

Flight of Passage Queue - Pandora - The World of Avatar Preview - Disney's Animal Kingdom
We were also lucky enough to ride Flight of Passage, which some have accurately nicknamed Soarin’ Over Pandora. The first thing you’ll notice about this ride is its amazing queue. Pandora – The World of Avatar features the most ridiculously detailed queues I’ve ever seen from Disney, and you know that Disney never overlooks details.

When you enter the queue for Flight of Passage, you initially walk into something that looks like a cave with lots of plants. As you go, you find an old research facility that plants have overtaken, so it’s a mixture of the natural and manmade. Have you ever seen pictures of those old theme parks that get overrun by plants because no one has been there for awhile? It feels a little bit like that. Then as you keep going, you eventually get to the inner research facility where you see an actual Avatar along with notes and experiments of the researchers. The entire queue is really fascinating! I found myself taking a ton of pictures of the queue because there’s so much to look at.

What about the ride itself? Flight of Passage is the BEST ride I’ve ever ridden at Disney. It’s like Soarin’ and Star Tours rolled into one, except somehow much better than the sum of those two. Not going to lie, my mouth may have been hanging open in awe the whole time. Do not miss this attraction next time you visit Disney World.

That’s it for my quick impressions of Pandora – The World of Avatar. I’ll give more thoughts in my full review, but it seems like Disney has yet again knocked it out of the park.
