As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on the new Park Starz 3 series. Park Starz is the series that got me into collecting Vinylmation. As soon as Disney announced the lineup for Park Starz 3, I knew that this was my favorite series from top to bottom. Every single figure was cool in its own way, whether it was a unique design or an attachment to a personal favorite attraction. My mind was settled, and my wallet was ready: I was going to buy my first case of Vinylmation.

Soon after Park Starz 3 was released, my girlfriend and I headed to D Street in Downtown Disney in Anaheim. (Note: You can buy these figures at Disney World as well). I was slightly nervous that they wouldn’t have any cases left and this whole trip would be for naught, and I would have to console myself by going into Disneyland, going on a bunch of fun rides, and eating a Dole Whip filled with defeat.

Luckily, my consolation plans were cancelled, as D Street had four cases behind the register. I purchased one with an Annual Passholder discount.

Now I was ready to go into Disneyland, go on a bunch of rides, and eat a Dole Whip filled with victory!

Except I immediately discovered that the case is very heavy. Since I already had some camera gear with me, I decided to take the tram back to my car to put my Vinylmation case in my trunk. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely day at Disneyland, but this was one occassion where I couldn’t wait for the car ride home.

Once back in my living room, it was time to take the Park Starz out of the tins and see what I had purchased. This was my first case, and I wasn’t 100% sure if I guaranteed to get every figure. Luckily, my fears were once again unfounded, as I got all 12 figures in the set.

Alright, without further ado, here are the stars of Park Starz 3.

Dreamfinder – Journey Into Imagination. Sidenote: You can read the origin story of Dreamfinder and Figment in a fantastic Marvel Comic. I recently picked it up, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for Disney World fans.

Spaceman – Initially it was reported that this adventurer was from Mission:SPACE, but a recent interview with Thomas Scott, the artist who designed this figure, says it is inspired by Space Mountain. Either way, I really love this design.

Sonny Eclipse – This slick fellow can be seen playing daily at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.

Ezra – The tall hitchhiking ghost.

Trixie – One of the stars of the Country Bear Jamboree.

Pig Pirate – From Pirates of the Caribbean. Just look at that pig! Look at it!

Barker Bird – One of the first animatronic figures that WDI developed and Walt Disney presented. Really cool.

Small World Irish Boy and Guitar Playing Cactus.

Main Street Electrical Parade Turtle

The Caveman from the first scene of Spaceship Earth. At first I didn’t love this design because it didn’t immediately click with me what this was referencing, but I’ve really warmed up to it. Such a cool reference, especially since Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite Disney attractions.

Harold the Matterhorn Yeti

And the mystery figure – The Polynesian Tiki Guy! This is a fantastic mystery figure. Iconic enough that fans will totally love it, while obscure enough that he’s not the first character to pop to mind.

Here’s the entire unboxed set. My favorites are Dreamfinder, Pig Pirate, and Sonny Eclipse. And I can’t pick out a figure I don’t like.

Overall, I’m really happy with my decision to get the case. While it takes out some of the thrill of buying blind boxes, I loved this whole set and I’m glad I got each figure.
