Ah, September. Summer is ending, school is beginning, and some of the best events are kicking off at WDW. Now that we’ve celebrated how much we work by taking a day off from work, let’s take a look at the month ahead for Walt Disney World.

Boo to You: Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party begins

This family friendly Halloween party takes place on select nights this month and runs all the way through Halloween. MNSSHP features special fireworks, character meet and greets, trick or treat trails, and one of the best parades Disney puts on all year. This year’s additions include a special Pirates of the Caribbean SotMK card and the Villains’ Sinister Soiree, a $99 premium dessert party.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a hard ticket event, which means that it requires a separate ticket in order to attend. The party takes place from 7 PM – midnight at the Magic Kingdom on September 1, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, and 28. The event continues throughout October.

Let the feasting begin! Epcot International Food and Wine Festival starts September 19

My personal favorite event, the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, features over 25 international marketplaces, free concerts, and special parties. New offerings this year include the Farm Fresh and Patagonia marketplaces, a culinary Boot Camp series, and Epcot Food & Wine Late Nights Live. The last addition is a hard ticket party that takes place from 9:45 PM to 1 AM on Thursdays during the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. You can read more about it here.

The Food & Wine Festival takes place from September 19 – November 10, 2014. Be sure to check out our Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Guide.

This month’s Eat to the Beat bands are:

  • Sept. 22-23 – The Pointer Sisters
  • Sept. 24-25 – Rick Springfield
  • Sept. 26-27 – Christopher Cross
  • Sept. 28-29 – Hanson

Endless Summer: Frozen Summer Fun LIVE extended at Hollywood Studios

The people of Arendelle must continue another month with their monarchy missing. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are extending their summer vacation at Hollywood Studios until September 28th. The celebration will continue with the Frozen Sing-Along, the 11 am processional parade, and Wandering Oaken’s Traden Outpost occurring daily, while the Frozen Fireworks will only occur on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Sing Hallelujah: Night of Joy takes place September 5-6

For the 32nd year, Contemporary Christian Musicians take the stage at Magic Kingdom. Tickets are $59 in advance or $69 the day of. Here’s the lineup:

  • Friday, September 5:  Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, for KING & COUNTRY, Mandisa, Building 429, Matt Maher, The Neverclaim
  • Saturday, September 6: Skillet, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Israel Houghton & New Breed, Britt Nicole, Colton Dixon, Rhett Walker, We As Human, 1 Girl Nation

Crowds

With school back in session, September is typically a light month for Disney World crowds. Avoid Epcot on the weekends once Food and Wine begins, as it definitely brings in the crowds. Also take note of which nights the Halloween party takes place at Magic Kingdom. The park closes at 7 PM those nights for non-party guests, and party guests will start pouring into the park around 4 PM.
