A long time ago, in a theme park close to Orlando, Florida… Star Tours opened at Disney’s MGM Studios. That first Star Wars attraction made Disney World a fantastic place for Star Wars fans to visit, but the resort is lightyears ahead now in what it offers fans of the franchise. From a massive Star Wars land including Disney World’s best ride to Star Wars-themed dining and immersive experiences, there’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan at WDW.

Are you a Star Wars fan heading to Disney World? Then this is the guide you’re looking for. I will highlight where you can find every Star Wars ride, restaurant, shop, and hotel at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

First stop, lightspeed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Star Wars at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios should be the number one priority for Star Wars fans.

This is where you’ll find all of the Star Wars rides at Disney World, as well as Star Wars-themed food and shops. It’s also the location of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is Disney World’s 14-acre highly detailed Star Wars-themed land.

Here’s a rundown of all the different Star Wars experiences you can find at Hollywood Studios.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Marketplace - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge - Disneyland

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a massive land located in the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can enter the land either from Toy Story Land or from Grand Avenue. You can find most of the Star Wars experiences at Hollywood Studios inside Galaxy’s Edge. The land features two rides, two restaurants, a cantina, several shops and snack and drink carts.

Galaxy’s Edge is located on the Batuu, which is a planet created specifically for the theme parks. In the Star Wars Timeline, everything that takes place in Galaxy’s Edge happens between Episode VIII and Episode IX.

Galaxy’s Edge is divided into two main sections. The first is Black Spire Outpost, which is the city center featuring a marketplace and docking bay. This is where you can find the Millennium Falcon, as well as the shops and restaurants. The second is the forest, where you’ll find the hidden Resistance base. This is where your adventure for Rise of the Resistance starts.

Tip: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is massive and extremely detailed, so be sure to take time to explore. You should download the Play Disney Parks app, which will give you access to the Star Wars Datapad. This unlocks interactive missions that help you discover more about Black Spire Outpost and stumble upon some of the most fun Easter Eggs within the land.

Star Wars Rides

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Ride - Hollywood Studios Attraction

Disney World has three Star Wars rides, all located at Hollywood Studios.

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Galaxy’s Edge) – This ride is like jumping into your own 20 minute Star Wars movie. With a blend of multiple ride systems, massive sets, and appearances by Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren, this ride is the ultimate Star Wars experience. This should be the first priority for any Star Wars fan.
  • Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run (Galaxy’s Edge) – We’ve all dreamt of sitting in the cockpit of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. This ride lets you live out that fantasy. It’s a giant interactive motion simulator with arguably the greatest line and ride vehicle in history. The recreation of the Millennium Falcon – both exterior and interior – is everything you could hope for.
  • Star Tours (Echo Lake) – The original Star Wars ride was updated in 2012 to include a randomized ride films. Now your trip through the galaxy will take you across multiple planets and eras of Star Wars. You could visit Naboo from Phantom Menace, Hoth from Empire Strikes Back, or Crait from The Last Jedi. This ride is still a blast, and the randomized nature means that rerides will be rewarded.

Star Wars Dining

Bar - Oga's Cantina Review - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge - Guide2WDW

Hollywood Studios has several options for Star Wars-themed dining

  • Oga’s Cantina (Galaxy’s Edge): No trip to Batuu is complete without a trip to Oga’s. This establishment fulfills the desire for grabbing a beverage inside of a cantina like the one in Mos Eisley from A New Hope. Reservations are strongly recommended, but you can also try your luck with the walk up waitlist.
  • Docking Bay 7 (Galaxy’s Edge): This is the main counter service dining location at Galaxy’s Edge, located next to Millennium Falcon. Docking Bay 7 is one of the best counter service locations at Disney World. While the dishes have exotic names like Kaadu Ribs or Endorian Tip Yip, they’re really barbecue pork ribs and fried chicken, served with some extraterrestrial flair. Be sure to try the Outpost Puff, which is incredibly delicious.
  • Ronto Roasters (Galaxy’s Edge): Get the famous Ronto Wrap, which is possibly my favorite quick meal at Disney World. It’s a space hot dog, but it’s also so much more than that. Seriously, just get one. You can read more about the Ronto Wrap in my review.
  • Milk Stand (Galaxy’s Edge): Enjoy blue or green milk from this kiosk found near Kylo Ren’s Tie Fighter. Both are surprisingly fruity slushes. Personally, I’m on Team Green Milk, but let me know which flavor you prefer.
  • Kat Saka’s Kettle (Galaxy’s Edge): Get uniquely flavored and colorful sweet and spicy popcorn.
  • Backlot Express (Echo Lake): You can also find some Star Wars specialty items at Backlot Express, located next to Star Tours. You can get collectible Star Wars sipper cups here, as well as a Wookiee Cookie.

Tip: Docking Bay 7, Ronto Roaster, and the Milk Stand all feature Mobile Order, which is a great way to skip the lines at Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars Merchandise

Savi's Lightsaber Reveal - Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

The merchandise is strong with this park. You will have plenty of opportunities to buy unique Star Wars collectibles all throughout Hollywood Studios.

Premium Experiences: These two experiences at Galaxy’s Edge are a step above just buying an item from a shop.

  • Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers: This is your chance to build your own lightsaber. For $219, you can select which style of lightsaber you want and put it together by hand. The entire process is like a small show, making the ritual of building your own lightsaber feel incredibly special. The lightsaber itself is really good quality, and it’s one of my favorite souvenirs I’ve ever purchased. You can read my review of Savi’s Workshop here.
  • Droid Depot: Build your own R2 or BB unit remote control droid. For $99, you can select parts from an assembly line and put together a custom droid. You can also purchase other droid-related merchandise here without paying for the premium experience.

Other Star Wars Shops in Hollywood Studios

  • Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities (Galaxy’s Edge) – An incredibly themed shop featuring animatronics and tons of props and Easter Eggs, Dok-Ondar’s sells unique merchandise such as replica lightsabers, kyber crystals, jewelry, and apparel.
  • The Marketplace (Galaxy’s Edge) – You can spend a ton of time perusing the different stalls inside the marketplace. You can find Jedi robes, plush creatures, Black Spire Outpost mugs, and toys that look handmade.
  • First Order Cargo (Galaxy’s Edge) – Get in touch with the Dark Side in this shop featuring all things First Order. Located near Kylo Ren’s Tie Fighter
  • Resistance Supply (Galaxy’s Edge) – This kiosk near Rise of the Resistance where you can find X-Wing Helmets, Millennium Falcon toys, and other Resistance based items.
  • Tatooine Traders (Echo Lake) – This is the gift shop you exit out of after riding Star Tours. This is the best place to find Star Wars apparel and toys, as well as the more affordable plastic lightsabers.

Tip: Inside Galaxy’s Edge, you won’t find any items that display the Star Wars logo. The items that are sold here are in-universe, so they are meant to feel like you are buying them from a character inside the movies. If you want a shirt or hat that says “Star Wars” on it, look at Tatooine Traders, or at the Star Wars shops at Disney Springs.

Other Star Wars Experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Speeder Bike - Star Wars at Disney World

Star Wars Magic Shot for Disney Visa Cardholders: Pose for an exclusive photo at the Visa Cardmember location in Star Wars Launch Bay. These shots are digitally enhanced, and downloads are included for free with your Disney Visa Credit or Debit Card.

The Hollywood Studios Visa Magic Shot is offered daily from 11 am – 4 pm.

Speeder Bike Photo Op: Just across from Tatooine Traders (the gift shop at the exit of Star Tours) is this photo op. Guests can pose on this bike like they’re racing through the Forest Moon of Endor.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser – The Star Wars Hotel

Want the ultimate, immersive Star Wars experience? Consider booking a cruise through the Galaxy at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This 3-day, 2-night experience completely places you inside a Star Wars story, complete by simulating that you are on a spaceship for the majority of the trip. Starcruiser includes a VIP-excursion to Galaxy’s Edge on the second day of the cruise. Part cruise ship on land, part interactive theater, and part Escape Room, Galactic Starcruiser is not like anything else out there.

It’s also very expensive, with the most affordable packages starting at almost $5000 for two guests.

You can read more about what you can expect on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser in our guide.

Star Wars at Disney Springs

Star Wars Galactic Outpost - Disney Springs

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge VR Experience – From May 2 – July 21, 2022, guests can go to the former NBA Experience / Disney Quest building on the West Side of Disney Springs to have a complimentary Star Wars VR Experience. From Disney:

“The hands-on preview will showcase a short version of ILMxLAB’s virtual reality experience Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, which expands the world of Batuu like never before! Once inside the Quest 2 headset, you’ll be immersed within sweeping 360 views of the Star Wars galaxy. The adventure takes place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, which you may be familiar with from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the immersive epic lands at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.”

Disney Springs Star Wars Shops: Disney Springs has three locations where you can find Star Wars merchandise.

  • Star Wars Galactic Outpost: Dedicated Star Wars retail store on the West Side. Formerly D-Street, this shop has a great selection of fun Star Wars merchandise, including toys, shirts, pins, and more.
  • Star Wars Trading Post: Dedicated Star Wars retail store at the Marketplace in Disney Springs. Includes apparel, toys, phone cases, Magic Bands, and more.
  • World of Disney Store: You can also find Star Wars items at Disney World’s mega store.

Club Obi Wan Coasters at Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar

Club Obi Wan Coaster - Jock Lindsay Hangar Bar - Disney Springs

Yes, I’m well aware that Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar is themed to Indiana Jones. While I know there is some crossover in fandom, you may not know that Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has a nod to another George Lucas property: Star Wars. The opening sequence takes place at a nightclub called Club Obi Wan, a reference to Obi Wan Kenobi. Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar features a selection of coasters from multiple Indiana Jones locations, including Club Obi Wan. A very obscure Star Wars nod, but a Star Wars nod nonetheless.

Other Star Wars Events

Outdoor Movies – Various Disney Resorts

Most Disney resorts have an outdoor movie screening at the beach or pool area. The lineup for this changes, but every now and then they will play a Star Wars movie. They were playing The Force Awakens at the pool at a Disney resort that I recently stayed at.
