Everybody wants to know how to avoid lines while at Disney World. Luckily, Disney has a solution for you: Lightning Lane, which provides a much shorter wait time at WDW’s most popular attractions. However, unlike the previous FastPass+ system, Disney World charges for access to the Lightning Lane. But how much does it cost to skip the line at Disney World? What does Disney charge for Lightning Lane?

The answer isn’t exactly simple. For starters, there are actually two different ways to access Lightning Lane: buying Genie+ or purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane a la carte. Also, both of these options feature variable pricing. How much you’ll need to spend on Lightning Lane will vary from day to day on your Disney World vacation.

In this article, I’ll go over how much you can expect to spend per person by providing the range of prices that Disney World has charged for Lightning Lane so far. This will include the daily price for Genie+, as well as the price range for Individual Lightning Lane attractions that aren’t included with Genie+.

Update 06-26-2023 – Disney World just introduced a huge change: per-park Genie+ pricing. We’ve updated this article to include the sample pricing Disney released, so you can see which park is the most expensive and which park will be the most affordable.

A quick comparison of Genie+ vs. Individual Lightning Lane

Lightning Lane - Rise of the Resistance - Guide2WDW

Genie+ is a paid daily service that gives you one-at-a-time access to the Lightning Lane at over 40 attractions around Disney World. With Genie+, you start by making one Lightning Lane reservation. Then once you’ve used that reservation (or 120 minutes has passed, whichever is first), you can make another reservation, and so on. If you know how to maximize Genie+, you can save a ton of time across many different attractions.

Individual Lightning Lane is available at a few of Disney World’s newest and most popular rides. Currently, it is only available at 5 attractions. These attractions are not included in Genie+. To access the Lightning Lane, you have to purchase an a la carte Individual Lightning Lane reservation. These prices vary by attraction and by day.

A few key differences to keep in mind:

  • There is no overlap between Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane attractions.
  • You do not need to purchase Genie+ in order to purchase Individual Lightning Lane reservations.
  • With Individual Lightning Lane, you can select which time you want from all the times remaining. With Genie+, you must take the first available time slot.

How much does Disney Genie+ cost at Disney World?

Genie Lightning Lane Price - Disney WorldWhile the service debuted at a flat $15/day, Disney World changed Genie+ to have variable pricing in 2022. This means that the price will change from day to day.

Genie+ at Disney World costs anywhere from $15 to $35.

This price is per day, per guest. Prices fluctuate based on crowd levels, so most likely the cost of Genie+ will change throughout your vacation. Disney World does not announce the price of Genie+ ahead of time. To make a budget ahead of time, you can make an estimate based on how crowded the parks will be. If you’re visiting during one of the best weeks of the year to visit Disney World, then the price will be closer to $15-$20 per person per day. However, if you’re visiting during one of the most crowded weeks of the year at Disney World like Spring Break or Christmas, expect the price to be closer to $25-$35.

In fact, we just saw a new high price for Genie+ on the first week of April in 2023 at $35.

Also keep in mind that Genie+ can sell out, so if you are interested in purchasing Genie+ during a busy season, be sure to purchase it early in the day.

How does per-park pricing work with Genie+?

Genie Plus Per Park and Multi Park Pricing - Disney World News

Starting June 27, 2023, Genie+ will have per-park pricing at Disney World. Genie+ will still have a multi-park option, but Disney World will now have lower-priced single-park-only options. This means if you are only visiting one park in a day or only want to purchase Genie+ for one of the parks you visit, you can purchase just the single park option. As of this writing, Disney has only give one day’s sample pricing for June 27:

  • Multiple parks: $27
  • Magic Kingdom only: $27
  • EPCOT only: $18
  • Hollywood Studios only: $24
  • Animal Kingdom only: $16

As you can see, the Magic Kingdom-only option and multiple parks option is the same cost. Everything else costs less. This is most likely influenced by both anticipated crowd levels and the amount of attractions available at each park — Magic Kingdom by far has the biggest Lightning Lane lineup.

We will update this guide in the future with the typical price range of Genie+ in each park.
