Disney’s polka-dotted fleet of red Minnie Vans has returned to WDW. Sure, they’re stylish and a ton of fun. But should you use Minnie Vans on your next Disney World vacation?

In this guide, I’ll explain how to ride in a Minnie Van, how much a Minnie Van costs, as well as the pros and cons to Disney’s ride share service.

What are Minnie Vans?

Disney

Minnie Vans give guests another transportation option to get around Disney World. They are a paid, private car that you can use to go across Disney World property.

Minnie Vans act similarly to a ride share. You use an app to hail them to your location, enter in your destination, and pay. If you’ve ever used Uber or Lyft, riding in a Minnie Van should be a very familiar experience.

In fact, you’ll need the Lyft app in order to summon a Minnie Van.

In order to hail a Minnie Van, you’ll need both the Lyft app and a Lyft account.

  1. Open the Lyft app within Walt Disney World.
  2. Enter your destination.
  3. Confirm your pickup location.
  4. At eligible destinations and pickup locations, a Minnie Van will show up as an option for your vehicle. This should show up as the first option, but it might not. According to Disney, “If the Minnie Van service doesn’t immediately display, scroll through vehicle type options until it appears.” If you are looking for an Accessible Minnie Van, scroll down
  5. Tap select Minnie Van.
  6. Once you confirm your ride, you can track the vehicle through the app. You’ll also be provided with a vehicle number so you can easily spot which Minnie Van is yours.

Payment will be completed through the Lyft app through your payment method of choice, such as credit card or Apple Pay.

Which locations do Minnie Vans service?

Minnie Van pickups and dropoffs are limited to official Disney World properties. So if you want to go from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian, or Disney Springs, you’re in luck.

But you can’t take a Minnie Van from your resort to Universal Studios.

How much does it cost to ride in a Minnie Van?

Disney Minnie Van Price Comparison

Pricing is dynamic, depending on time of day and length of route. While writing this article, taking a Minnie Van from the Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom was $22.62, which was $10.86 more than choosing a Lyft XL and $12.63 more than choosing a standard Lyft. Taking a Minnie Van from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Magic Kingdom was $48.19, which was $27.33 more than a Lyft XL and $32.31 more than a standard Lyft.

However, Minnie Van is cheaper than Lyft’s Lux Black XL option, which is comparable to Minnie Vans in terms of cleanliness and capacity.

Overall, Minnie Vans will be more expensive than a standard Lyft or Lyft XL, but cheaper than a comparable luxury car.

Why choose a Minnie Van?

Disney Minnie Van - Magic Kingdom Drop Off Location

  • Minnie Vans have large capacity – up to six riders.
  • Ideal for families. Up to two child car seats, required for children under six.
  • An accessible option has room for four rides, including two wheelchairs plus one car seat.
  • Speedy service – much faster than using the Disney bus system
  • Minnie Vans are Disney owned and operated vehicles. Typically cleaner than a standard ride share car.
  • Direct pickup and drop off at Disney World theme parks and resorts. The drop off and pickup locations for Minnie Vans are located much closer to the theme park entrances. For example, the standard ride share location at Magic Kingdom is at the TTC, while the Minnie Van location is right in front of the entrance, close to where busses drop off.

The drawbacks of a Minnie Van

  • Minnie Vans are not ideal for families with more than two kids under 6 years old, as they are limited to two car seats.
  • Minnie Vans are expensive compared to standard Lyft or Lyft XL ride share.
  • No transportation to the airport, yet. That service will be returning in the future.
  • No service to many Disney Springs area Good Neighbor resorts.
  • Pickups and dropoffs are limited to official Disney World properties.

Minnie Van Summary

Minnie Vans are Disney World’s official ride share vehicles that you can summon via the Lyft app. They can take up to six guests from one official Disney World location to another WDW location, such as theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. Minnie Vans are more expensive than a standard Lyft, but less expensive than a luxury SUV.
