If you’re a Disney fan, it’s hard to keep track of all the plusses these days. Do you have a Disney+ streaming subscription? Are you going to add Genie+ to your Disney vacation? Well, we have another plus to add to the lineup. Disney World just announced MagicBand+, which will be available for purchase in 2022.

MagicBand+ will include all the current features of MagicBands, including park admission, PhotoPass linking, opening your hotel room, and making purchases in the parks.

What’s so plussed-up about MagicBand+? It features a brand new upgraded design, with a lot more variety found in the RFID puck. The bands also sport color changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition, which Disney promises will unlock a new level of interactivity within the parks.

MagicBand+ According to Disney Parks Blog:

The wearable will allow you to engage with favorite Disney moments in new ways, including:

  • Play like a bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away and find virtual bounties throughout Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  • Interact with the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection,” the golden sculptures spread throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.

  • Experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you see your band light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new “Harmonious” at EPCOT and “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park.

MagicBand+ will be available for purchase next year. Disney is promising a discount for Disney Resort guests who purchase pre-arrival, as well as renewing Annual Passholders.

Regular MagicBands will still be available for purchase after MagicBand+ debuts. As a reminder, Disney offers the features of MagicBands for free on your smartphone through Mobile Magic, available through the Disney World MyDisneyExperience app.
