One of the main differences between Genie+ at Disneyland and Disney World is going away. While the paid ticket upgrade is mainly known for giving you access to Lightning Lane, there are a few extra benefits to Genie+. At Disney World, one of these benefits are the inclusion of Snapchat-style filters inside the Disney World app called PhotoPass Lenses. While this launched as an exclusive benefit to Genie+ at Disney World, PhotoPass Lenses are available at Disneyland.
PhotoPass Lenses use augmented reality to add neat effects to your phone’s camera, such adding a digital Mickey Pretzel to your picture, portraying fireworks behind Sleeping Beauty Castle, or letting you take a selfie with Grogu. This feature can make for some very fun and silly pictures.
Press the menu button in the bottom right corner (≡).
Tap Disney PhotoPass Lenses, which is currently located in the upper righthand corner. (These boxes in the menu get rearranged often).
Select your PhotoPass Lens at the bottom of the screen. All of these require Genie+, but some of theme are location specific, such as the Grogu lens only being available in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
When will PhotoPass Lenses be available at Disneyland?
PhotoPass Lenses are available at Disneyland starting today, October 4, 2022. Just be sure to update the Disneyland App to the most recent version.
Does Genie+ also include PhotoPass downloads?
At Disneyland, yes. Genie+ includes unlimited daily downloads to PhotoPass pictures, which are pictures taken by cast members or on rides that get linked to your Disneyland account. PhotoPass downloads are not included with Genie+ at Disney World.
