A fan favorite ride at Disney World will be closed for about a quarter of next year. The thrilling themed roller coaster Expedition Everest will be close on January 4th for a lengthy refurbishment.
There’s no word from Disney on if they’ll be fixing the long-broken Yeti animatronic. Considering the length of the closure and the reported complexity of the problem with the Yeti, I would just expect that this is a closure related to regular maintenance and upkeep fo the attraction.
Expedition Everest is schedule to reopen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in mid-April.
WDW Tip: Disney World regularly closes certain attractions for refurbishments, maintenance, and upgrades/renovations. When planning your vacation, be sure to check to see if any of your must-do attractions will be closed for refurbishment. While some attractions can close suddenly, most of the time Disney announces refurbishments months in advance.
