Right before the crush of holiday crowds, Disney World gave guests purchasing Genie+ an extra gift. Four attractions that were previously only available via a la carte Individual Lightning Lane purchases were included in Genie+ Lightning Lane roster from December 19, 2021 – January 3, 2022.
These are the attractions that were temporarily included in Genie+:
- Space Mountain – Magic Kingdom
- Frozen Ever After – Epcot
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Expedition Everest – Animal Kingdom
While many guests were hoping that this temporary change would turn out to be permanent, Disney World has reverted each attraction to Individual Lightning Lane. One exception is Expedition Everest, which just closed for a lengthy refurbishment, but we expect it to reopen as an Individual Lightning Lane attraction unless Disney World changes up the Genie+ lineup again.
Each of these attractions land firmly either in our “Don’t Buy Most of the Time” or firmly “Don’t Buy” recommendations in our Guide 2 Lightning Lane at Disney World, which we are updating to reflect the new Lightning Lane designations. We strongly hope that Disney World goes back to this temporary holiday lineup for Genie+, as it provides a lot more value for a Genie+ purchase and makes it much easier to recommend.
