Update July 1, 2016: Disney has once again updated the FastPass+ system, now allowing guests to be able to get their 4th+ Fastpass using the MyDisneyExperience app. We are updating this post to reflect the most current state of FastPass+ at Walt Disney World.

The updated article follows:

Earlier this month, Walt Disney World announced several changes that were coming to MyMagic+ that would enhance the guest experience. One of our most anticipated changes to the system has been given a firm date. The limit of 3 Fastpass+ per day will be a thing of the past. So, how do you get more than 3 Fastpass+ selections in a day?

Like before, you will be limited to making 3 Fastpass+ selections prior to your day at the park. Walt Disney World Resort/Hotel guests can reserve up to 60 days in advance, while Annual Passholders and Day Guests can make their 3 Fastpass+ selections up to 30 days in advance. Nothing has changed there.

However, once you have used your first three Fastpass+ selections (or once the last , you will be able to get a fourth Fastpass+. To do so, you can either use the MyDisneyExperience app/website or go to a Fastpass+ kiosk inside the park and make your new selection. Once the new reservation has been made you will be able to modify it via the app. Disney has said that they are looking into allowing guests to make the bonus reservation with their smartphone. Hopefully, that will be the case in the future.

When you are done with your fourth Fastpass+, you will be able to get a fifth. After the fifth is done, you’ll be able to get a sixth, and so on. The only limit to how many Fastpass+ reservations you can get in a day is time and availability.

This is a great change to the MyMagic+ system, as it adds some of the flexibility of the old Fastpass system while retaining the benefits of reserving Fastpasses ahead of time. I know I will not miss the early morning rush to Toy Story or Soarin to grab passes for later in the day.

Here are a few tips to get the most out of the Fastpass+ system with these new changes in mind:

  • This puts a bit more of a premium on early morning reservations, as you will have more flexibility to get more Fastpass+ selections if your third FP+ ride is at noon vs. 6 pm.
  • While the first three Fastpass+ reservations must be different rides, you will be able to repeat a ride once you are in four+ Fastpass+ territory.
  • You are only able to get a fourth Fastpass+ once you have redeemed your latest Fastpass+ reservation of the three, or the reservation window for that Fastpass+ expires. This makes getting a Fastpass+ reservation for a nighttime experience like Illuminations much less appealing.
  • You can now make a 4th Fastpass+ reservation for a different park. For example, if you go to Magic Kingdom and use your first three Fastpasses, you can then use the app to make a FP+ reservation for Epcot (or any other park) later in the same day.
