Some out-of-this-world news out of Destination D23 regarding Epcot’s first roller coaster. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be blasting off at World Discovery in Summer 2022. Previously, Disney had said that the attraction was coming to Disney World in 2022, so it’s good to have a more specific timeframe.

Additionally, we got a look at the awesome new poster, which mixes some classic Epcot imagery with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Destination D23 presentation also gave a glimpse at unseen portions of the queue. Disney World fans will recognize the large map of the original concept of Epcot, when it was conceived as a city by Walt Disney himself.

Also, some big news for fans of the original Guardians of the Galaxy film. Intergalactic treasure Glenn Close will be reprising her role as Nova Prime for the ride.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be Disney’s first ever roller coaster with a backwards launch. The ride will implement an innovative Omni-coaster system, which has spinning coaster cars that will let Imagineers control which way guests will look on this story-based coaster.
