Set in the famous Hollywood Tower Hotel in the 1930s, Tower of Terror is probably the creepiest attraction in all of Walt Disney World. Guests board a service elevator in the basement of the hotel, but it’s quickly apparent that this will not be a normal elevator ride. This thrill ride takes guests up the nearly 200-foot structure, offering a scenic birds-eye view of the park before dropping them. The thrilling plummets are randomized, so it should be unpredictable how many times the elevator will drop. Tower of Terror is one of the best rides at Disney World by far.

Tips and Trivia

  • Lines can get very long for this ride, so this may be a good choice for a Fastpass+ reservation.
  • Tower of Terror provides the best view of Hollywood Studios. However, this view will only last for a few seconds before you go plumetting down.
  • Once in the library, move to the opposite corner you entered. This door will open into the basement where you will be loaded into the elevator.
  • In the basement, go to the left line – it’s quicker.

Visitor Comments

“The tower of terror is by far one of the best attractions at Disney World. The effects are first class and the falls are on par with other freefall rides throughout the country. If I had to pick one ride to ride if I was in Disney World it would be this one. Make it a point to ride this when you go to Hollywood Studios.” – Matt “The Tower of Terror is the epitome of Disney magic. It combines a great story about a golden age of the past with the technology of today to make an awesome ride. Most theme parks with similar rides just put you in the air and drop you, but Disney puts you into a great story as well.” – Inga “I went on Tower of Terror tentatively – I am desperately afraid of heights, and I’m normally not a big fan of drops. So I’m writing to give a slightly different perspective on the ride. I cannot wait to go back on TOT, and the drop has nothing to do with it – thematically, this one of the best overall attractions I’ve been on. Waiting in line checking out the interior of the hotel is as much fun as the ride. The drop was fun, but not scary enough to keep me off of it so that I an enjoy the rest!” – Andrea “What a great ride. Try and get the seat in the middle that only has a seat belt. You get some good air time. I was a single rider and asked the people in my group if I could sit there, since most people are in a group and want to sit together nobody minded.” – Scott “WOW!!! I knew what to expect but what I experienced was more than I expected. The drops were many and I kept losing count even though I rode it a number of times. Just ride it!!” – Frank “The Tower of Terror was real scary, but was fun to ride. The special effects were excellent on the ride. It looks real scary at first, but it’s lots of fun.” – Jason
