About two years after publicly debuting their plans to overhaul Epcot’s Future World, Disney has quietly announced several closures as they move forward with construction.

Some of these shops, restaurants, and attractions will be temporarily moved or set to open again at a later date, while the future is not so bright for others. For those visiting Walt Disney World this fall, this could impact your plans for touring Epcot.

Here’s a list of which Future World attractions are affected and when they will cease operations.

Closing Permanently

Club Cool - Free Coke Samples at Disney World

  • Innoventions East (Colortopia, Nanooze Break) – September 8, 2019
  • Fountain of Nations – September 8, 2019
  • Club Cool – September 8, 2019
  • Electric Umbrella – November 23, 2019
  • Camera Center – Later this year
  • Heritage Manor – September 8, 2019. This will be the new Art of Disney store when it reopens.

If you’re worried about no longer being able to taste global Coke samples or sample the international crime known as Beverly at Club Cool, there is some good news here. Disney announced that, “Club Cool will be incorporated into new offerings as part of Epcot’s evolution. Additional details about the transformation of the core of Future World will be announced at the 2019 D23 Expo.”

Closing/Temporarily MovingFountain View Cafe - Starbucks

  • Fountain View (Starbucks) – Closing November 23, 2019. A temporary Starbucks location will be opened up sometime in the fall to provide coffee to park-goers during construction.
  • Mouse Gear store – will be receiving a temporary location starting this winter while the store is “reimagined.”
  • Pin Central – Closing September 8th. It will move to a temporary location during the fall, and eventually will take over the current Camera Center near the park’s entrance as a permanent home.
  • Character Spot – September 8, 2019. Character meet and greets are being somewhat scattered around the park, with Mickey and Goofy temporarily meeting in Innoventions West.
  • Art of Disney – Closing September 8. Heritage Manor in The American Adventure Pavilion will be the new home for the Art of Disney merchandise.

Future World Concept Art D23

As you can see from the concept art shown at D23 2017, Disney has some big ideas about the future of Future World. While it is sad to see some of these changes come to fruition, here’s hoping that there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow coming for Epcot. (Sorry to mix park references).
