Star Wars fans, get excited. Both sites of the Star Wars themed lands at Disneyland and Disney World have officially started construction. To commemorate the groundbreaking on both coasts, Disney released a really cool glimpse at the construction site at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. This takes your typical groundbreaking photo of a few executives and a shovel and blasts it into hyperspace. Check out the 360 degree look at the Star Wars Land construction site at Disneyland, featuring several special appearances from favorite Star Wars characters, droids, and vehicles.
There’s BB-8, R2-D2, Stormtroopers, AT-ATs, and even a probe droid, all helping out the Disney construction team to get Star Wars Land built. It seems like that everyone is so excited about this new land at Disneyland and Disney World that it’s caused an unlikely truce: there are Tie Fighters and X-Wings and they aren’t blasting at each other. Look out for Big Thunder Mountain in the background, and be sure to look at the crates with “Transport to Walt Disney World” on them, dutifully guarded by a couple of First Order Stormtroopers.
Now that construction has started, it should be around 2 years (at the earliest) until guests can experience the 14-acre land. Disney has announced that Star Wars Land will feature 2 rides, shops and dining experiences (including a cantina) at both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Disney World.
