One of the most important things that anyone planning a Disney World vacation needs to understand is the Park Pass Reservation system. In order to get into a Disney World park, you need both a theme park ticket and a Park Pass reservation.
The Park Pass reservation doesn’t cost anything extra. It’s just a way to ensure that you can visit a specific park on a specific day. If you don’t have a Park Pass Reservation, you won’t be able to go into Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. So it’s crucial to know the ins and outs of WDW’s park reservation system.
In our Disney World Park Pass Reservation guide, I will show you step by step how to make a reservation, change your plans, and answer frequently asked questions.

Yes, you can make park reservations the same day you intend to use them — if there are still reservations available.
Remember that availability is limited, so you may not be able to visit the park you want to. For example, on the day of this writing, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have no park passes available same day.
We recommend making Park Pass Reservations as early as possible to have the most number of options on your vacation.

Do you need a second park reservation to Park Hop?
No. You only need to make a reservation for the first park you will enter that day. Once you’ve entered that park, you can go to any of the other three WDW theme parks after 2 pm.
Can you have multiple park reservations for a single day?
No. Once you’ve made a Park Pass reservation for a day, you cannot make another reservation for that day. To change the park your reservation is for, you must first cancel your existing reservation and make a new one.
How many Park Pass Reservations can you hold at one time?
How many park reservations you can hold depends on the type of ticket you have.
If you have a regular theme park ticket, you can make a Park Pass reservation for each day of your ticket. So if you have a 5-Day Disney World ticket, you can make 5 park reservations. If you have a 10-Day Disney World ticket, you can make 10 park reservations.
If you have an Annual Pass and a reservation at a participating Disney World hotel, you can make a park reservation for every day of your hotel reservation, including the check-in and check-out dates. These park reservations are in addition to the reservations your Annual Pass can hold.
If you have an Annual Pass without hotel reservations, here are the limits for how many reservations you can hold at one time.
- Disney Incredi-Pass – Holds up to 5 reservations at a time.
- Disney Sorcerer Pass – Hold up to 5 reservations at a time.

For theme park tickets, park reservations can currently be made anytime now through the first half of January 2024, which is 17 months from now. This date will get extended, but you can make park reservations well over a year in advanced with theme park tickets at Disney World.
