Correction: This articled originally stated that Disneyland was closing on March 13. The closure is scheduled to start March 14.
Just hours after announcing that change fees for vacation packages would be waived due to the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, Disneyland Resort has announced that it will close to the public starting Saturday, March 14, 2020. The closure is temporary, and it is scheduled to last through March 31. Disneyland’s hotels are scheduled to close starting on March 16, and Downtown Disney is slated to remain open. Since the park has been open since 1955, this is only the fourth time in history that it will suspend operations.
JUST IN: Disneyland in CA closing as of Friday because of coronavirus. Only 4th time in history that operations have been fully suspended: 9/11, Northridge quake, nat'l day of mourning after JFK assassination

This move comes shortly after both the state of California and the city of Anaheim urged the cancellation or postponement of public gatherings of more than 250 people.
Disneyland Resort joins Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland in having to close due to the spread of coronavirus. Walt Disney World is currently still open, but with everything from the NBA season to March Madness to the Happiest Place on Earth being postponed, cancelled, or closed, it seems that it remains a strong possibility for the Orlando resort to suspend operations.
If you had planned a trip to Disneyland over the rest of this month, contact Disney or your travel agent to reschedule or request a refund.
