Single Rider is one of our favorite options for skipping the lines at Disneyland, and it’s coming to one of the most popular rides at California Adventure. WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure has added a Single Rider line, starting today.

Single Rider is a way for Disney to quickly fill in gaps in ride vehicles. If you go in the Single Rider line, you will be split up from your party to sit in what would otherwise be an empty seat. For instance, each side of a WEB SLINGERS vehicle has four seats. If a party of three is seated on one side, Disney can quickly add someone from the Single Rider line to the fourth seat. This boosts the hourly capacity of the ride, and gives guests who don’t mind being split up an option for a much shorter line.

Why use Single Rider?

The advantage of Single Rider is that you can drastically reduce your wait for a really popular ride without paying for Lightning Lane. While Disneyland doesn’t post a wait time for Single Rider, other attractions that use it usually have a 10-15 minute wait. This wait time can go up if there are a lot of groups that fill the entire row, so it’s hard to perfectly predict.

The disadvantage is that your group will be split up. However, there’s a chance you might be in the same vehicle as someone else in your group. It’s unlikely that you’d be on the same side, but it is possible if the Cast Member can’t quickly find a group of two to pair with another group of two.

For adults traveling together, Single Rider can make a lot of sense. However, if you are traveling with small children, you won’t want to use Single Rider on the Spider-Man ride or any other ride. It really comes down to if you’re comfortable being split up for the duration of the ride, and possible a few minutes after the ride is done if you get put on different vehicles.
