The Genie is about to come out of his lamp on the West Coast. Disneyland will debut Disney Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane on December 8. This Wednesday, Disneyland guests will be able to access Disney Genie using the Disneyland app.
Disney Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane have been active at Disney World since October. Disney Genie is a new tool within the official Disney app that lets you see wait times, your plans, dining reservations, and recommendations. Genie+ is a paid service that adds one at a time Lightning Lane (the new name for FastPass) access for certain attractions. There’s also a separate a la carte option to pay for Individual Lightning Lane access to the most popular rides that aren’t included in Genie+. If you’d like to understand Disney’s new FastPass replacement, check out Disney Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane explained.
When Disneyland gets Genie+, it won’t work exactly the same as it does at Disney World. Here are the big differences:
How Genie+ is different at Disneyland
Disney Genie Price
Disneyland’s Genie+ offering is $20 per person per day, compared to $15 at WDW.
What’s Included with Genie+
- Genie+ at Disneyland also includes PhotoPass access.
- Genie+ at Disneyland does not include AR photo filters
Genie+ Lightning Lane Start Time
At Disney World, you can make your selections starting at 7 am.
At Disneyland, you can start making your selections as soon as you enter the park. Otherwise, the systems work the same.
Individual Lightning Lane Start Time and Arrival Window Choice
At Disney World, resort guests can start purchasing Individual Lightning Lane selections at 7 am. All other guests can make their reservations at park opening. When you purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, you can select from all available time slots.
At Disneyland, all guests can start purchasing Individual Lightning Lane selections once they enter the park. When you purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, you must select the next available arrival window.
