While we are still a few weeks out from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on August 29, Disney World visitors will now have a chance to preplan three of the most in-demand experiences at the Star Wars expansion. Reservations are now being accepted for Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers, Oga’s Cantina, and the Droid Depot.
These reservations can be made on DisneyWorld.com or the Disney World/MyDisneyExperience App. Unlike at Disneyland which started with no reservations and now has a shorter 14-60 day reservation window, reservations can be made 180 days in advance for Disney World’s Star Wars offerings.
Both Savi’s Workshop and Oga’s Cantina were two of the biggest draws when Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland, so I highly recommend grabbing reservations if you want to experience these.
Savi’s lets you build a high-quality lightsaber in an interactive ceremony for $199 plus tax, and Oga’s offers a wide array of intergalactic alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions (45 minute and 2 drink maximum per person). You can read our Savi’s Workshop review and Oga’s Cantina review for more details, but both of these experiences are must-dos for Star Wars fans. If budget is a concern, go for the Cantina, as they have non-alcoholic beverages starting around $6.
The Droid Depot lets you customize and build a remote control droid for $99. These droids are either R2 units or BB units, they are about a foot tall, and they will interact with the land. Anecdotally speaking, this has had less of a demand at Disneyland, with waits ranging from 0-30 minutes each time I’ve visited. While reservations aren’t as necessary, it is probably a good idea to grab one if you know you are interested in building a droid. Unlike Savi’s and Oga’s, you are able to walk into the Droid Depot without a reservation, so you can take a firsthand glimpse at the process and decide if you are interested or not.
