Want an aqua adventure with a splash of Frozen fun on your Walt Disney World vacation? Blizzard Beach is finally reopening after a lengthy closure and refurbishment. When the water park reopens its gates to guests on November 13, it will feature new Frozen additions as well as seasonal holiday enhancements.
Here’s everything you need to know about Blizzard Beach’s reopening.
New Frozen Fun at Blizzard Beach
The backstory of Blizzard Beach is that it was Florida’s first ski resort after a freak winter storm hit Orlando. Of course, put a ski resort in the hot Florida sun, and it’ll be a puddle. So instead, Blizzard Beach is a water park with snowy ski elements.
As Frozen is a movie about an unexpected snowstorm, it’s a perfect fit for Blizzard Beach.
The new Frozen additions at Blizzard Beach will be found at Tike’s Peak, which is a kid friendly area. Guests will be able to find statuettes of Olaf, young Anna and young Elsa in an igloo castle, and Snowgies spraying water.
Holiday Enhancements
When Blizzard Beach reopens on November 13, it will also feature an enhanced holiday atmosphere. Through December 31, guests will be able to enjoy the following holiday offerings:
- Festive inner tubes
- Holiday treats – including an Orange Bird Dole Whip Cone!
- Holiday decorations
- Snowfall
- A meet and greet with tropical Santa
Other Blizzard Beach Highlights
From intense water slides to a relaxing ride through a lazy river, Blizzard Beach offers a wide variety of water park fun for Disney World vacationers. Here are a few highlights, courtesy of Disney:
- Summit Plummet is one of the tallest, fastest freefall body slides around. The heart-pumping attraction plunges guests down Mount Gushmore in a near vertical drop and rockets them into a darkened tunnel. It’s an attraction made especially for thrill-seekers!Â
- Teamboat Springs is one of the world’s longest group whitewater raft adventures, where up to six riders can take an epic and unpredictable whitewater journey down a mountain.Â
- Toboggan Racers is a unique attraction where guests use a mat to compete in a thrilling race downhill on an eight-lane slalom-style waterslide. Â
- Cross Country Creek is a scenic lazy river that takes guests on arctic adventure gliding through mysterious caves, illuminated grottoes and bask in Mount Gushmore’s refreshing spring water throughout polar paradise. Â
- Runoff Rapids offers a choice of three distinctly different inner-tube waterslides, where guests twist and turn down an adrenaline-filled trip down Mount Gushmore.Â
Blizzard Beach Reopening Hours
When Blizzard Beach reopens on November 13, it will be open from 10 am – 5 pm daily. These will be the operating hours through December 31.
