In addition to Park Pass changes coming for Annual Passholders and on-ride photos being included in Genie+, Disney World guests got another dose of good news today. Free parking is coming back to Disney World Resorts, effective starting tonight.

This applies to self-parking. Valet will continue to be an additional charge. The announcement also reiterates other Disney World Resort perks, such as theme park parking, early theme park entry, and free transportation.

Here’s the announcement, per Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro.

Enjoy complimentary self-parking when staying at a Disney Resort hotel

Beginning this evening, Jan. 10, overnight self-parking will once again be offered complimentary to guests staying at Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World. This is a Disney difference many of you have asked us to bring back, and we’re happy to reintroduce it to make your vacation a little easier and more affordable – whether you’re road tripping across the country, renting a car or vacationing as a local Florida resident. As a reminder, Disney Resort hotel guests also continue to receive complimentary standard parking at Walt Disney World theme parks, daily early theme park entry (with valid admission and a park reservation) and complimentary on-site transportation options such as buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner.

Guide2WDW’s Take

This, combined with today’s other news, is a good sign that Disney World is moving things in a positive direction back towards providing value to the guest. As I noted last year in How Going To Disney World is Different Now, the trend the past few years was for free perks to be removed or suddenly cost money (*cough* Genie+ *cough*). This is a rare instance of a free perk actually returning.

Hopefully, this will be the new trend.
