We are just 19 days out from one of the biggest expansions in Disney World history from opening. Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will start welcoming guests on May 27, but Disney has started letting cast members and select press preview the land. That also means that there has been a slew of pictures, impressions, and videos coming out showing what we can expect from Walt Disney Imagineering’s collaboration with James Cameron.

Last week, Disney released a video showing off the centerpiece of Na’vi River Journey, one of the two new attractions at Pandora. The short river ride through a bioluminescent forest culminates with an encounter with a Na’vi Shaman. This audio-animatronic is truly next level. For those not adverse to spoilers, be sure to check out the video below.

Spoiler Warning for Na’vi River Journey at Pandora – The World of Avatar

As you can see, the motion and animation is incredibly fluid. While Imagineering has been on a role with their AA figures for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Frozen Ever After, this even blows those out of the water. The reviews for Na’vi River Journey have been mixed so far due to the attraction’s length, but there seems to be a consensus that the Shaman figure is the current pinnacle of audio animatronics. Na’vi River Journey is definitely a must-do for me the first time I visit Pandora just to see the figure in action for myself.

Beyond Pandora, this animatronic gets me very excited to see what Imagineering will be able to accomplish for certain future attractions.

So, what do you think? We’re less than 3 weeks to Pandora opening. Are you excited?  I’m currently putting together a guide for Disney World’s new land based on Avatar, so look out for that sometime between now and May 27.
