ToggleDisney Genie Overview
You can access Disney Genie a few ways inside the MyDisneyExperience app.
- On the home page, there’s a banner highlighting Disney Genie Service. You can press the “Summon Disney Genie” button to get started.
- Press the Plus button in the middle of the bottom menu bar to bring up a list of actions. Press the “View my Genie Day and Tip Board” to go to Genie within the app.
- Press the three lines (also known as a hamburger menu) on the bottom right of the menu bar. You can select “My Genie Day” or “Tip Board” to access Disney Genie.
Disney Genie is divided into two sections: Tip Board and My Day.
Tip Board gives you the information about what is going on currently in the park. You can use the tip board to see the latest wait times, see forecasted wait times, mobile order food, and make dining reservations. The tip board is divided into two sections: experiences and dining. The tip board is the best way to check the status of the park at a glance, and then assess what you can do.
My Day includes any reservations you might have already made, including Lightning Lane and Dining Reservations. My Day will also show you Disney Genie’s smart recommendations for what you should do next, based on your interests and the forecasted wait times. Genie might recommend a ride with a forecasted short wait time, or a restaurant with an available mobile order window.
Using Disney Genie for Attractions
You can do a few things in regards to attractions and experiences in Walt Disney World with Disney Genie.
View Current Wait Times: Within the Experiences section of the Tip Board, you can see a list of the most up-to-the-minute wait times at all of the attractions in the park you have selected.
View Forecasted Wait Times: If you are interested in which times of day are the best to join the line for each attraction, Disney has included forecasted wait times. Go to the Experiences section of the Tip Board, and tap on the name of the attraction that you’re interested in. It will bring you to a page with more information about the attraction, including a chart showing forecasted wait times. Right now, the graph doesn’t show exact numbers unfortunately, but it will give you a good idea of which times are relatively better for riding.
Get Genie Recommendations: Disney Genie will also give you smart recommendations based on your interests and anticipated crowd levels. Go to the My Day tab, and Genie will show an itinerary with recommended attractions.
Change Genie Recommendations: If the recommendation in the My Day tab is not something that you’re interested in, press the three dots icon in the top right corner of the recommendation card. This will pop up a menu where you can select “Swap Recommendations.” Disney Genie will provide a list of alternate experiences that you can swap to put into your day’s plans.
Make Lightning Lane Reservations: You can also use Disney Genie to make and manage both Genie+ Lightning Lane and Individual Lightning Lane reservations. Both are additional charges and not included with the free Disney Genie Service. The Tip Board will show the earliest availability for each Lightning Lane attraction. Be sure to check out our full Lightning Lane guides which will show you how to use the Genie+ system.
Using Disney Genie for Dining
Disney Genie also provides a simple interface for making same-day dining reservations and orders.
Make Dining Reservations: You can see which restaurants have dining reservations available in the Dining section of the Tip Board. This section provides a list of all the restaurants, and the restaurants with available reservations that day will show “Accepting Reservations.” Tap that button to make a reservation.
Join the Walk Up List: Certain table service restaurants offer a walk up list for the soonest dining. In the Dining Section of the Tip Board, you’ll see a box that says “Walk Up List” if it is available for that restaurant. Press that box to join the list.
Make Mobile Order: In the Dining Section of the Tip Board, you can see the earliest mobile order window for the quick service restaurants that offer mobile order. Tap the Mobile Order box to start your mobile order.
Get Genie Recommendations: In the My Day tab, Disney Genie will make recommendations for restaurants, especially if there’s available mobile order or reservations for a certain time.
Change Genie Recommendations: Just like attractions, if a restaurant recommendation in the My Day tab is not something you’re interested in, tap the three dots icon in the top right corner of the recommendation card. You can then “Swap Recommendations” from there.
How to Select Which Park You See in Disney Genie
Disney Genie currently only shows information from one park at a time. If you’d like to see the tip board for another park, go to the Tip Board section of Disney Genie. At the very top of the Tip Board is a park icon. Tap the “Change Park” text to select which park you’re looking at from the menu that pops up.
This will be very useful for making a decision on which park to park hop to, as you can see what the wait times, dining reservations, and Lightning Lane availability is like at a different park.
How to Park Hop with Disney Genie
Guests can currently start park hopping at 2 pm on each day. If you’re planning on park hopping during your day, you can let Disney Genie know, so it can populate your recommendations accordingly. In the My Day tab, look for the dark blue box that says “Plan for Your Next Park” towards the bottom of the screen. From there, you can select which park you’re going to park hop to, and what time you’re planning on arriving and leaving. You’ll then be prompted to select your top picks for the park if you haven’t been to that park before. Once you have that done, your My Day tab will show you when you should travel to your second park for the day, and your Genie Recommendations will be updated to show selections from the second park.
You do not need to do this in order top park hop. This is just a way to help plan your day with Genie.
